Louie Anderson used to do a skit where he would beg his wife if he could take his balls out of the jar and put them back on, just for one night, when he went out to play cards with the boys.
Part of the travel down the road as a "liberated" spouse is re-establishing blood flow to your gonads.
For me, this probably took around four to five months....which is four to five months too long. And quite honestly, it is a work in process.
I went through the head to heart journey too. And in the heat of the upheaval and battle it is very hard to take the heart out of the picture. But the sooner the bleeding wimpy heart goes, the sooner the combatants become evenly matched, and soon enough the liberated spouse has all of the weapons and has cleared the landing zone and the minefield, so to speak. This enables good things to start happening for the liberated spouse.
Once you get to know who the hell you are again, the easier all of this becomes. And the easier it is to separate yourself from the sins, lies, adultery, betrayal, and all of the other demonic tendencies/actions/words of a possessed MLCer.
Courage is taking action, without knowing the outcome. When you use courage and apply it with the faith that you KNOW (and by KNOW I mean you feel it in your bone marrow) that everything is going to be all right, that is when, maybe by divine providence, that the worm turns and the exorcism of the MLCer begins. And simultaneously, you become liberated instead of "left behind".
Limbo, I know where you are at, and got the scars to prove it.
It's tough love time brother.
